Meditation is to say "there's that," and "there's that again," and "that just happened," over and over and over again. It is to notice sounds and events without adding a judgmental connotation of good or bad. It just is.
As you train yourself with 5 min a day, then 10, then maybe 12 min and working your way up to what you can make time for (it's okay if you can't go beyond 5 min, you are training your mind either way), then throughout the day you will notice you seem calmer because you are putting less judgment on things that happen around you. Meditation will help show you that nothing happens to you. Everything happens. The fact that things occur does not mean it is for or against you. It just happens. It's up to you to decide if the event needs to be attacked.
